A great big OUCH!

What will this summer of 2006 be known for? Record hurricanes? Even more threats from the Middle East? My guess is the record high cost of a gallon of gas. In my neck of the woods, it is hovering at $3, a little less for the "cheap stuff", a bit more for the premium. I don't know about you, but it is playing havoc with our family budget.

From those who have no other choice but to depend on their car, there is outrage and despondency. For those who have ready access to public transportation, the affect isn't as drastic.

And then there are those who will make a buck, and I don't mean the big oil companies. I mean a little homegrown operation that will make money while educating their fellow Americans on how to produce their own fuel for their cars and be less dependent on the whims of big business and foreign countries.

So for every crisis, be sure to look for the silver lining!

Rain

Rain, rain, go away! Little Susie wants to play!"

April showers, bring May flowers. What do Mayflowers bring? Pilgrims!

We plow the fields and scatter, the good seed on the land. But it is fed and watered, by God's almighty hand....

Funny how something as simple as droplets of water can evoke such different reactions. For some, it ruins their day. For others, it's hardly noticed as the hurry to get to work on time. And for still others, it makes the differeance between good times and possible financial calamity.

All those emotions, and yet rain is still only little drops of water, falling to earth.

May-be in addition to taking time to smell the flowers, we need to take time to listen to the rain. Both are gifts of nature, both are soothing to the spirit, both are free to all, rich or poor to enjoy.

All it takes is a different perspective.
